Welcome to The Christian Royer House

We are so glad you’ll be visiting with us to celebrate one of life’s happiest events - a wedding! Our property was built in 1827 as a wedding gift, so its the perfect place to be celebrating with couples nearly 200 years later. Our historic garden venue, in the rolling farmland of Carroll County, MD provides a private, peaceful setting. So put on your best clothes, bring your camera, and get ready to celebrate with family and friends!

Guest Responsibilities at

The Christian Royer House

  • Adhere to Event Timelines: Please follow the schedule provided by the hosts to ensure a smooth and timely event.

  • Supervise Children: If attending with children, please ensure they are supervised at all times, especially near water features and uneven terrain.  Please keep children away from the pond!

  • Respect Designated Smoking Areas: Smoking is only permitted in our designated smoking area. Please dispose of cigarette butts in the provided receptacles in our smoking area.

  • Follow Alcohol Policies: Outside alcohol is not allowed. Please enjoy beverages provided by the event’s licensed vendor. Please bring ID with you as bartenders may request it! Anyone caught serving alcohol to a minor will be asked to leave immediately. Minors attempting to obtain alcohol from the bar will be asked to leave immediately.  Please drink responsibly!

  • No Illegal Drug Use: Anyone caught in possession of or using illegal drugs will be removed from the property immediately.  

  • Marijuana Use: Please do not smoke marijuana at the venue.

  • No Cars May be Left Overnight: Cars may not be left overnight on the property and any cars left past venue close will be towed at owner expense.  Please plan for a responsible exit!

  • Dispose of Trash Properly: Please use the provided trash bins to help keep the venue clean.

  • Respect Noise Ordinances: Keep noise levels within reasonable limits, especially during evening hours, to respect local noise regulations.

  • Respect the Property: Treat the venue’s facilities, decor, and landscape with care and supervise children to do the same. Any damage may result in fees.

  • Indoor Spaces not Available:  The Manor House and Honeymoon Cabin are reserved private spaces for the wedding couple and their wedding party.  Please do not enter these buildings.

  • Respect Venue Staff and other Guests:  Please follow all directions from venue staff, caterers, bartenders, and other vendors - and treat them and your fellow guests with respect so all may enjoy the celebration!

Venue FAQs

  • Our venue is an outdoor venue and the ceremony and reception will take place in outdoor areas, in our covered pavilion, and/or in our grand reception tent.

    We have chillers for hot weather in our tent and heaters for cooler weather. However, its still a tent! So dress appropriately for the weather, and consider layers that you can add or remove as needed.

    Bring an umbrella if there is a chance of rain, and rest assured that our tent provides robust shelter for any amount of rain.

  • Yes. When you arrive, drive to the end our drive and turn right onto the gravel drive behind our restroom trailer. You will be directed where to park.

  • No - cars may not be left on venue property after the event ends. Cars left after venue close will be towed at owner’s expense. We need our property to be completely clear for the next day’s wedding.

  • Yes, rideshare services are available in our area and drop off at our venue.

  • No - outside alcohol is not permitted. Please plan to drink from the selection provided by your hosts.

  • Yes, we have a comfortable dedicated smoking area under our arbor next to the greenhouse.

    Smoking is not allowed indoors, in our tent/pavilion, or anyplace on the property other than our smoking area.

    Please dispose of all smoking waste in the provided receptacles.

    This area is also for vaping and cigars.

  • We have a golf cart to transport anyone with a mobility issue to the ceremony site and then to the reception.

    When you arrive, please let our parking staff know if you need this assistance.

  • Yes, our tent and pavilion are accessed by ramps and level pavement.

    Our restroom trailer has a full-size ADA bathroom with a ramp that will accommodate any size wheelchair or walker.

  • There is one recommended hotel in Westminster - the Best Western. Gettysburg, PA, Owings Mills, MD and Hanover, PA are all about 30 minutes and have a variety of hotel options.
